General Officer Announcements


Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Air Force Maj. Gen. Robin Rand for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, Twelfth Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Air Combat Command, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. Rand is currently serving as special assistant to the vice chief of staff, U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Everett H. Thomas has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general while serving as the vice commander, Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.
