McDonalds to cut fats, sugars, sodium
CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- McDonald's on Tuesday announced a new program that will significantly overhaul its current menu with an eye toward providing customers with "improved nutrition choices." As part of the plan, over the next few years, the company will reduce added sugars, fats, salt and calories via changing portion sizes, along with product reformulations. McDonald's also said it intends to introduce a smaller size of french fries and automatically include produce or a low-fat daily item in its popular "Happy Meals" for kids, cutting their calorie count by 20%.
