Swiss GDP up 0.3% in 1st quarter from 4th quarter
TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) - Switzerland's first-quarter gross domestic product rose 0.3% from the fourth quarter and 2.4% from the year-earlier first quarter, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs reported on Tuesday. Private consumption rose 0.2% from the fourth quarter, driven mainly by housing and health care as well as banking services and insurance, the agency said. Consumption spending on food and clothing fell, the secretariat said. Government consumption rose 0.3% in the first quarter from the fourth quarter.
