HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- U.S. President Barack Obama Sunday night confirmed that terrorist Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, has been killed in a U.S. operation in Pakistan. In a televised address to the nation, Obama said bin Laden was killed in a compound in the South Asian country. Obama said no Americans were hurt in the operation he had authorized. He said there is "no doubt" that Al Qaeda, the terrorist outfit that bin Laden headed, will continue to pursue attacks on the U.S., and that the U.S. must and will be vigilant against such attacks. However, he added that the U.S. never has nor will be in a war against Islam.
