Operational Briefing on Libya Announced
Adm. Samuel J. Locklear III, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa, will provide the media an operational update concerning Libya via phone from aboard the USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) at noon EDT in the Pentagon Briefing Room (2E973).
Adm. Locklear is the commander of Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn (JTF-OD), the task force established to provide operational and tactical international response to the unrest in Libya and enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 1973 to protect the Libyan people. The JTF-OD staff is aboard USS Mount Whitney, which is currently underway in the Mediterranean Sea.
Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the Pentagon River Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call 703-697-5131 for escort into the building.
