Hi everyone, Dennis here.

It's been a while since we talked; but I will tell you that if there's ever been an opportunity for you to get active this is the time. In the last month I've had the opportunity to stand up and speak out on behalf of Workers' Rights in Washington State, and in Wisconsin, and in the State of Ohio. And you've had the chance to view some of the videos and we'll make sure that all the links are included in this transmission.

We Need To Get Out Of Afghanistan

But I've also then standing up on the floor of the House of Representatives and challenging the War in Afghanistan with a Congressional Resolution that forced a vote once again, and got more support than ever for Members of Congress to put themselves on the line with their votes to say, " ... let's get out;" and I think were absolutely moving in the right direction on that, although not fast enough.

We're at the Anniversary - the 8th Anniversary - of the attack on Iraq. And I pointed out at the very beginning that Iraq didn't have any weapons of mass destruction. That there was no reason for the United States to attack Iraq; but unfortunately, the Administration at that time wasn't listening. They had already decided that they were going to go to war and they didn't care if they were going to cook the books. And, frankly, they're gone now and there's not much feeling in Washington for them to be made accountable. Although I personally feel that President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Secretary Rumsfeld should have to answer to the International Community for leading this nation into war based on lies.

And then we have the case of Libya.

The Obama Administration's decision to attack Libya was made without any Congressional approval. It's outside the Constitution of the United States. Whether you like President Obama or not is not the question. The question is: if you like the Constitution more. And the Constitution places very firmly in the hands of Congress the decision as to whether or not to commit the men and women of our armed services to a conflict, or the physical assets of the United States of America into a conflict.

We are bombing Libya right now. Congress did not approve this action, according to the Constitution. Such an action lacks legality in the United States and the President should have to answer to that. I mean this isn't anything that is a small matter. It's a very grave matter, actually.

Stand up. Contribute.

Now, whether we're talking about the need to move our economy forward domestically or internationally standing up for peace, I have been there throughout my time in Congress. I have never failed to stand up and I have never faltered. I start each day ready to go, to challenge the status quo; and to tell the truth in this upcoming election, I'm going to face a condition that's unlike any that I've faced before - and we've talked about it before - I intend to stay in Congress. I don't know where the district's going to be and at this point all indications are that the Tenth Congressional District, as is currently constituted, will cease to exist. It's going to be dramatically altered in a redistricting so I'm going to have to make some decisions about where I'm going to run.

I'm going to need your help not just in terms of helping to organize as you always do to help me get elected; but I'm going to need your help in terms of putting together a broad fundraising structure to make sure that I'll have the resources to continue to be a voice in the United States Congress, a voice for human rights, workers' rights and environmental quality principles; a voice for peace, a voice that never fails to speak out at moments of crisis when it's urgent that someone stands up and says what must be said.

Your support is essential! Please contribute now!

You've made that possible. You've made it possible throughout my career and now I'm asking you to really get engaged in this effort to not just make it possible for me to stay in the United States Congress but to make it possible even more importantly for my voice to continue to be heard on your behalf.

So thank you. And this week is going to be a very important week as we continue to challenge this principle of war which continues to work its way through our world as some kind of a virus. We cannot accept that war is inevitable. We must challenge those in positions of leadership, executive positions, who are dedicated to prosecute wars. We have to reorient our society to peaceful resolution of conflict.

And at once and for all, we have to start focusing America's attention on things here at home.

Thank you.
