Department of Energy to Host ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit This Week
Secretary Chu to deliver keynote address
Washington, DC – Beginning on February 28, U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will welcome approximately 1,800 attendees to the second annual “ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit” that will take place at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The event, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E), will serve as a forum for the nation’s energy leaders to share ideas and identify key technology opportunities and challenges in the energy field. Secretary Chu will give the opening keynote address on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 and discuss how technology and innovation can help America lead in the clean energy race.

The Summit – which will take place February 28 – March 2, 2011 – will include a Technology Showcase of more than 200 groundbreaking technologies that are poised to help America win the future in energy, including 100 ARPA-E awardees.

Over the course of the event, participants will also hear from:

· Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
· U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus
· Arun Majumdar, ARPA-E Director
· Charles Holliday, Bank of America Chairman and former DuPont CEO
· U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
· U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
· U.S. Senator Mark Udall (D-CO)
· Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY)
