Unbelievable.

Unbelievable.

The GOP led Congress voted last week to eliminate all funding for the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) - one of the few programs in the budget dedicated to conflict prevention and non-violence - while they added another $158 billion in the same budget for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The two wars will consume $42.7 million - the entire budget for the USIP - in 142 minutes.

It's a one-two punch to our efforts to promote peaceful conflict resolution over war.

I need your help, to continue to be your voice in Congress. Donate $20, $50, or more and help us stand up and be the voice of Peace:

Your support will ensure our voice will be heard on issues as important as peace and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'm not going to let our voices be abolished because some political insiders want me to stay quiet and redistrict me out of Congress. There's too much at stake. This is the time to stand up and speak out. And based on the support and responses I've seen so far, I know you're right there with me.

With your help I will always be there to keep fighting. To say what needs to be said and what others are too afraid to say.

Please chip in $10, $20, $100, and help us keep our voice in Congress:

Our efforts for peace must unite different groups around the country and appeal to those who have made peace an organizing principle in their daily lives. We must fight to restore USIP funding and to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Together, we continue our movement for a better, more just, more peaceful America. Thanks for being with me.

With respect and appreciation,

Your Congressman, Dennis Kucinich
