DOD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for Fiscal Year-To-Date 2011, through January


The Department of Defense announced today recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for fiscal year-to-date 2011, through January.
o Active Component.
o Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal year-to-date 2011, through January.
o Army - 21,485 accessions, with a goal of 21,000; 102 percent
o Navy - 9,651 accessions, with a goal of 9,651; 100 percent
o Marine Corps - 8,526 accessions, with a goal of 8,504; 100 percent
o Air Force - 9,550 accessions, with a goal of 9,550; 100 percent
o Retention. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force met or exceeded their fiscal year-to-date 2011 retention goals.
o Reserve Component.
o Recruiting. All six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal year-to-date 2011, through January.
o Army National Guard - 18,641 accessions, with a goal of 17,828; 105 percent
o Army Reserve - 10,149 accessions, with a goal of 9,225; 110 percent
o Navy Reserve - 2,581 accessions, with a goal of 2,581; 100 percent
o Marine Corps Reserve - 3,672 accessions, with a goal of 3,187; 115 percent
o Air National Guard - 2,198 accessions, with a goal of 2,198; 100 percent
o Air Force Reserve - 3,038 accessions, with a goal of 3,024; 100 percent
o Attrition. Losses in all reserve components are within acceptable limits.
