Hoyer Statement on Fourth Quarter GDP Estimate
WASHINGTON, DC - Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer released the following statement today after the Commerce Department reported the GDP estimate for the fourth quarter of 2010:
"Today brings another positive sign that our economy is continuing to turn around after the deepest recession since the Great Depression. The economy grew by 3.2 percent in the last quarter of 2010, the sixth straight quarter of growth. While this is encouraging news, there is more to be done to put Americans back to work and ensure strong and sustainable economic growth. Job creation remains Democrats' top priority, which is why we are pursuing our Make It In America agenda to enhance American manufacturing and create well-paying jobs here at home. So far Republicans have yet to take action on jobs, but I hope that we can work together to spur job creation."
