Flag Officer Announcements


Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:
Capt. Thomas E. Beeman, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy director, National Intrepid Center of Excellence/deputy director, Medical Service Corps, Reserve Component, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Beeman is currently serving as deputy chief of staff, Reserve Component for Wounded, Ill, and Injured, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. John N. Christenson will be assigned as president, Naval War College, Newport, R.I. Christenson is currently serving as president, Board of Inspection and Survey, Norfolk, Va.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Cynthia A. Covell will be assigned as commander, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tenn. Covell is currently serving as director, Total Force Requirements, N12, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Peter A. Gumataotao will be assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, San Diego, Calif. Gumataotao is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Korea/commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea/commander, Naval Component, U.S. Forces Korea, United Nations Command, Korea.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Charles D. Harr will be assigned as deputy to the medical officer to the Marine Corps/deputy director, Medical Corps, Reserve Component, Washington, D.C. Harr is currently serving as commanding officer for Medical Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
Rear Adm. Gerard P. Hueber will be assigned as commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Three/commander, Amphibious Group Three, San Diego, Calif. Hueber is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for strategy, resources, and plans, N5/N8, U.S. Naval Forces Europe/U.S. Naval Forces Africa/Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy.
Capt. Kenneth J. Norton, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as deputy chief of staff for strategy, resources, and plans, N5/N8, U.S. Naval Forces Europe/U.S. Naval Forces Africa/Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy. Norton is currently serving as special assistant to the commander, Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, San Diego, Calif.
Rear Adm. Sean A. Pybus will be assigned as commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, San Diego, Calif. Pybus is currently serving as commander, Special Operations, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.
