Effective July 10, 2012, the U.S. Department of State launched the implementation of the new Pathways Internship Program, a paid internship program designed to replace the former Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) and Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP).
The U.S. Department of State will continue to offer both paid internships under the Pathways Internship Program,
( http://www.opm.gov/HiringReform/Pathway ... ovdelivery ) as well as unpaid opportunities under the U.S. Department of State Student Experience Program (formerly known as Summer, Fall and Spring internships). The Pathways Internships are Civil Service opportunities located mostly in Washington, D.C., while the U.S. Department of State Student Experience Program provides the opportunity to work in U.S. Embassies throughout the world, as well as in various bureaus located in Washington, D.C. This program is designed to provide substantiative experiences in a foreign affairs environment.
