DoD Open Government Subscribers:
I'm writing to let you know that we just expanded the DoD Open Government website at www.defense.gov/open and released an update to our Open Government plan.
On the website, we've added a 'Link Library' to make it easier for visitors to find some of the most popular Open Government information: there's a section for the Department's major FOIA Reading Rooms, key budget, spending and contract resources, where to follow Department regulation changes and sources for technical and scientific reports.
The update to our Open Government Plan takes into account feedback we got from the public and open government advocates from our earlier version.
It also announces our "Express Route" for Data.gov submissions of material that has already been substantively cleared for public release, including:
· Data tables published in PDF or similar format on public-facing Web sites
· Almanacs, fact-books and similar sets of statistics
· Datasets released under the FOIA process
· Datasets reflecting the same information issued in press releases
· Aggregated versions of material released incrementally through press releases or other sources
Also coming soon are datasets on quality of care in the Military HealthSystem and recruiting data.
When you have a moment, please visit the site at www.defense.gov/open and share a comment.
Thanks,
David Schnitzer
