MESSAGE FROM THE MAJORITY LEADER

Today, the House passed two bills that will create and save jobs. The Promoting Jobs and Preventing Outsourcing Act (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR4213:) includes provisions that close tax loopholes, prevent outsourcing, create and save jobs, and provide tax relief to families. The COMPETES Act (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR5325:) creates jobs and strengthens our national economic competitiveness through investments in research and development, as well as science, technology, engineering and math education.

The House also passed the National Defense Authorization Act (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR5136:), which strengthens our national security and protects Americans by increasing counterterrorism efforts, boosting missile defense, and strengthening nuclear nonproliferation. In addition, this bill ensures that our troops, veterans, and their families have the support they need both on the battlefield and when they return home.

Over the next week, Members will be back in their districts to observe Memorial Day and talk with their constituents about how Democrats are working to create jobs for the middle class. The House will return for legislative business on June 8th.

Sincerely yours,

STENY H. HOYER
