Subject: Another chance to fight discrimination in Rapid City!
Dear friends,

I wanted to give you a heads up about a critical issue we are going to be mobilizing around. On the agenda of the Rapid City City Council is an amendment to the employee nondiscrimination policy that would include sexual orientation. As you know, here in Rapid City, we successfully helped pass a similar policy for Rapid City Schools.

This issue will be in committee in 7 days. We have a short amount of time to gear up and generate support. We have shown as an organization that we can do just that. You don’t have to be in Rapid City to help. We can generate calls and letters from around the state to show Rapid City why the world is watching, and why this issue is so important to young people.

We will be receiving talking points from the ACLU shortly, which we will send out with a more detailed action plan.

As Democrats, I know we stand for opportunity, fairness, and equality. I also know from our convention last weekend that we are filled with both passion and conviction. I have been incredibly proud to be a Young Democrats when I see our willingness to stand up and fight for this issue, and I know I will once again be blown away by the outpouring of action on this important issue.

Thank you in advance for helping make South Dakota a better place to live and work!
