Shasky Calvery Named as Director of The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that Jennifer Shasky Calvery has been selected as the new Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Shasky Calvery is expected to begin her duties next month and will replace the outgoing Director, Jim Freis, who has served with distinction as the Director of FinCEN for the past five years.
FinCEN’s wide-ranging work to protect the U.S. financial system from money laundering and other forms of illicit financial activity is a cornerstone of the Treasury Department’s efforts to protect the financial system from abuse and advance the national security interests of the United States. Since its establishment in 1990, FinCEN has been at the forefront of the development of regulatory policy to combat money laundering and terrorist financing and has been a respected leader among the world’s financial intelligence units.
